hi nosy, welcome to SG:
if you cannot afford therapy---you can try what i did: i use a sliding scale and even though i cannot afford therapy----my therapist gives me rates i can afford( well, kind of, lol) it is a good idea for anyone who doesnt have insurance. or , if, like me, certain types of specialized therpaists dont take insurance...

I have been struggling with bulimia for a while but what I am trying to do is stop myself from overeating in the first place because that's when I am tempted the most to purge or eat more and then purge. My bulimia spiraled put of control really fast. Especially once I justified in my head that throwing up was ok. Its hard to not obsess over dieting and exercising too but for me just working out 3-4 times a week is a stress reliever and a way to maintain a healthy weight. I'm not sure if you exercise now but it may help to give you an escape from your family problems and to have time for yourself and using that instead of overeating and purging. I have also read that when you are tempted to overeat just going for a walk releases those endorphins that are also released from eating foods.
Just do everything you can to not let it get worse because when it does it is so hard to control and will consume your thoughts.
There are lots of books out there. I even found a few at the local library. A couple of good books I've read are: Bulimia a Guide to Recovery by Lindsy Hall & Leigh Cohn; Life Without Ed by Jenny Schaefer; Women, Food & God by Geneen Roth. Also there may be a eaters anonymous in your local area that you may find can help. It is free.
Good Luck & keep faith!

I think it's great that you have taken the first step towards healing. You would be surprised to find universities who have free clinical trials and support for people with ed's. not sure where you live but do a search. it seems like you have alot you need to talk about. also, some places will work with you based on your income. tell them you don't have insurance and i'm sure someone will be willing to work with you. good luck
